There are K-Pop fans across the globe who share the same passion. But on online platforms, it is hard to know about each other’s stories and K-Pop life. Even if we are in the same fandom, it is hard to get to know each other. So at Kpopmap, we started the Kpopmap Fan Interview Project to get to know more about K-Pop fans from different countries: more about their K-Pop life and tastes and to give them the opportunity to share with our readers about their favorite group(s) and bias. Adelina from Venezuela is the next fan to answer our questions. She is a fan of BTS, particularly of RM! Check out how she entered the fandom, the songs and content she advises to new fans, and much more! Can you introduce yourself? Where are you from? Hello! I’m Adelina from Venezuela. How and when did you enter the fandom? My sister and a friend told me about them two years ago when I was learning Korean. It all started from their influence and then out of my curiosity. I started listening to some of their songs and became a fan during the release of the “Proof” anthology album. I know, I’m quite late. What are the reasons why you love your favorite group? They are passionate and genuine guys. Their songs and performances are meaningful, with lots of emotions and versatility. Each member has their style and voice, but when they are together, they can blend well. I didn’t feel any connection toward any other group or artist in the last few years until I discovered more about them, which is why they became my favorite group. Who caught your attention at first and why? J-Hope. His dancing skills and the energy that he has can be contagious! Who is your bias, and why? I like all seven of them, although my bias is RM, because of his dedication, generosity, encouragement, leadership, and perseverance. Can you recommend a title track and a B-side track for new fans? I recommend two title tracks: ‘Black Swan’, and ‘Life Goes On’.
Can you recommend a fan cam, V Live, cover video, cover dance, or individual content video of your bias to our readers? This video shows how calming and funny he is. Can you also do the same type of recommendation for the group? Most of their live performances, especially this one: Can you share with us one of your favorite lyrics? “Under the flower petals raining down, I run, so lost in this maze. Forever we are young, Even when I fall and hurt myself, I keep running toward my dream” - ‘Young Forever’ For me, my bias is… My role model because he is supportive and loyal to the group and his fans. Can you share with readers the first-ever picture you’ve saved of your bias on your phone? I saved it because I have a soft spot for dogs. Can you recall a moment where you cried/laughed with your bias? The “2022 BTS Festa” video. The way he expressed himself with touching words made me understand more about him and the group; and what they were going through during that time. Is there some food you saw your bias group eat that made you crave it too? Naengmyeon. I was curious about what a cold noodle soup could taste like. Are there any words from the members you would like to share? “Just because others are having difficulties doesn’t mean your own get any less difficult. Whenever you’re having a hard time, tell others you’re struggling, ask them to understand and comfort you.” - Jin What is your favorite group/bias’ influence on your daily life? To accomplish my goals, learn more about Korean culture, and keep studying the language. What is your favorite side of fangirling/fanboying? Being able to share common interests with my friends and meet new people. Do you feel there are any misunderstandings, things that are not well known, or any prejudices about your favorite group from other fans (non-fans)? They can think whatever they want, it doesn’t bother me. Their opinion says a lot about themselves based on their beliefs and experiences.
